Would you consider critical comments posted on your Facebook page the same as “trash-talking” your opponent before a basketball game? You know, nothing personal. That’s how one first-year male college student explained the practice of electronically posting or texting disparaging comments about other people, says Dr. Elizabeth Englander, professor of psychology at Bridgewater State College, who gave a presentation on cyberbullying to a full house of parents and school administrators earlier this month at Cary Hall.
